Geshema Phuntsok Namdrol was born in Phenpo, Tibet. She was ordained at the age of nine and, a few years later in 1992, moved to Nepal to join Kopan Nunnery. There, she entered the extensive study program, mastering the five great texts and completing all required subjects.

During her studies, she also began teaching Tibetan language and Buddhist philosophy. Starting in 2010, she participated in the first Gelug Geshema examinations and was awarded the Geshema degree by His Holiness the Dalai Lama at Drepung Monastery in South India in 2016.

Following this, she completed one and a half years of tantric studies at Gyuto Tantric College in Dharamsala, where she earned her Tantric Degree.

Geshema Phuntsok Namdrol has served as chant master for 24 years and is currently the resident teacher of Buddhist philosophy at Kopan Nunnery.
