Tara Rokpa
Tara Rokpa is a path of one’s inner development whose main sources are philosophy, psychology, and experience with meditation, complemented by psychotherapeutic methods and an understanding of the western point of departure. This path was developed by the Tibetan Buddhist teacher of meditation Akong Rinpoche in cooperation with western psychotherapists and is based upon relaxation, creativity, bodily work, visualization and meditation. Different dimensions of the psychic wellbeing are being promoted through Tara-Rokpa work: autonomy, personal development, a competent contact with one’s environment, a sense in life, positive relationships, and acceptance of oneself.
During the Tara-Rokpa practice days some basic modules of the complete Tara-Rokpa process will be offered like training relaxation, massage, working with the 5 elements. The foundation for the exercises is compassion, for ourselves and for others. We need that urgently: to understand ourselves, to pardon us and have compassion with ourselves, our friends and our fiends.
Working with the 5 elements is based on the system of Tibetan medicine, which knows the elements earth, water, fire, air and space. Each of these elements has its special qualities for each of which a psychological counterpart can be found. Is the element in harmony, it will unfold its positive qualities. If it is unbalanced, disturbances will result. In the Tara-Rokpa work with the elements one learns to feel the special qualities of each of the elements in oneself and one’s environment. In this way one becomes more conscious of the interdependency between inner processes and outer events. The better we get to know the processes the better we can live with others, our environment and us in a harmonious and balanced way.
